Saturday Rush, Three Deep at the Bar
by Roxie
Saturday, November 7, and the bar is three deep before the grill is even hot. Ms. Coley put Shrimp and Grits for Company You Actually Like on the board, which means somebody's expecting a date, and Abuela has already told two tables she'd have used more cheese. The Matriarch sent back her tuna melt because the bread was too fancy, so the cook made it again on plain white. Mac and cheese is moving fast, and the Cast Iron Apple Crisp needs its scoop of ice cream before it cools off. Dale says he is not washing one more pot for the salsa roja. I told him it's already in the sink, honey. Cold shrimp stays at 41 degrees or below, hot food stays at 135 or above, and I check both before I pour a single drink.
