A woman was shot in the leg during a drive-by shooting on Wileyvale Road on Houston's northeast side just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026. Police tracked the suspect vehicle using Flock cameras from the northeast side into Third Ward, then pursued the suspects north toward downtown. The chase ended when the suspects crashed into a Houston Police Department cruiser near the I-10 and I-45 interchange. Three of four suspects were arrested; one remained at large.
Daniel Trujillo, 36, a three-year officer with the Taft Police Department in South Texas, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in his apartment on Wilcrest on the Katy Freeway in Spring Branch, around 4:30 p.m. Houston police are investigating the death as a homicide, and no suspects have been identified.
