Ratings are the Texas Education Agency's A–F district ratings. Tax rates are the total adopted rate (maintenance and operations plus debt service) per $100 of taxable value. Spending per student is TEA's operating expenditures per student from its financial data; central office staff is TEA's count of central administrative full-time equivalents; transfers are students TEA counts transferring into and out of each district, where counts under five are masked by TEA and not added in. These three are read from TEA's files on the site's timer.
